"How long must I stay here, repenting for your sin?" Tsukiyomi asks, his voice carrying a mild variation that Umeko did not believe was possible.
"Any day now, brother, things will improve." The man casually slides his sandals against the gray stone floor while readjusting in the small, wooden chair with four legs, two arms, and a back that ends below his shoulder blades. Umeko thinks, BROTHER?!
"I've been conversing with Ammy (Ah-mee) and chichiue (chee-chee-way/father), and they seem comfortable with you finally returning home. There is only one, final test," he holds up his index finger. "You have done very well with many difficult tasks to redeem yourself-- far better than I could've done on my own even!" He slaps his knee with a toothy grin.
"Tasks that should have been yours for redemption," Tsukiyomi abruptly stands, his chair flying back and hitting the wall with a CRASH making Umeko jump to attention. With a cool tone and stony face, "This should be your banishment, Susanoo (SUE-sah-noh). I carry a weight that is not mine to bear." Slapping the side of his fist down onto his work table with enough force to jostle items on its surface, he leans forward and stares at the man.
"I never should have accepted the blame, and you should not have allowed me to," Tsukiyomi responds firmly with a flicker of red in his eyes, the bearded man quick to his feet with hands up in surrender.
"I know you feel that way, ni-san (nee-sawn/brother), and I owe you more than what my life is worth for what you have saved me from over the centuries," Umeko's eyes widen as she peers from the shadows through a partially open door, "But you know as well as I, if I had presented the situation to them, my punishment would've been far worse than this."
Resting his knuckles on the desk opposite Tsukiyomi while shaking his hanging head with a heavy sigh, "Isn't -that- why you spared me and took the fall in the first place? After all," he stands tall in a shrug. "You and aneue (ah-ney-way/older sister) are the pride of our father," he beats his armor-clad chest with a closed fist.
"You two were born from his eyes as the tears of the Creator of Japan!” He tugs at his eyes before cupping his nose, “I was born of his nose and treated as something to be discarded," he snatches a blank, bamboo scroll from the desk and breaks it before tossing it aside.
Tsukiyomi watches in silence.
"You were given the moon, and she the sun," he points to the ceiling, "And I," he chuckles un-amused while touching his heart, "I was given -only- the sea." Every syllable falls from his tongue with a bitter disappointment as he turns.
Thinking from the shadows as she watches, He called him Susanoo... Wasn't that the name of their sea god? ...And she was given the sun... Is he talking about Amaterasu-Omikami (AA·muh·teh·ruh·soo - OH-me-kah-me)?
Umeko covers her mouth, forcing herself to remain quiet as her mind pieces everything together.
And they're all siblings... He said Tsukiyomi was given the moon...that means... He's not a demon at all!?
In a discombobulated tremor, she chokes back a shriek.
The fallen mood god saved me?!

"Not very comforting, by the way, to be rejected so often. I would sometimes wonder if he was only pretending to be nice but secretly thought I was disgusting," Mizuki sits up, holding herself. "But after never seeing him with a woman and finding out from Sane that Tsukiyomi might be celibate," she shrugs, "I stopped taking it personal."
Umeko thinks, Oh, I see. But it's okay to keep fucking the man while he's trapped in his own body just because you want him so bad?!
"I want to be on his good side all the time because he rewards me every time. So," Mizuki crawls to Umeko and lays her head in the girl's lap. "If that means making his fantasies of playing with his host's little pet come true, then I'm all for it," Mizuki rubs Umeko's knee.
The girl’s hands hover over the woman, Am I fast enough to make it into the hall and hide in the party if I shove this crazy bitch off of me?!
"He's got tons of whores and sluts to have nasty sex with. Why's he care about some inexperienced kid from nowhere?" gently lowering her hand to Mizuki's shoulder, Umeko's palm instinctually caresses the soft, smooth skin. Perking up, "You really don't know?" a mischievous grin crosses Mizuki’s painted, red lips. "Not every woman is Tsukiyomi's 'best friend' or pet."
That sick, twisted, eeeeeevil mother duck fucker! He's so fi–!
The bear rolls her eyes, "Or whatever we are or once was to the dispassionate man. At least with Ryu I know who and what I am to him without confusion," Mizuki sits up, rearranging the straps on her breasts to where they belong while Umeko quietly interjects.
"I really don't think he'd (Tsukiyomi) leave you wondering," she cups the back of her neck, trying to deliver this as sensitively as possible. "I think he leaves you with truths you can’t accept because it’s not what you wanted to hear."
"If I aid Tsukiyomi, I will lose Ryu. He (Ryu) is my Heika and my lover. He chose me to be his empress," Mizuki shifts to her knees, her balled fists in the futon as she looks in Umeko's face.
"I believe you, but from where I sit it looks like he's using sex to make you feel loved. If you were enough for him, I wouldn't have been--!"
Mizuki slaps Umeko so hard that one of her nails slices open bronzed skin in a clean sliver; Umeko reaches to touch her face, the burning sting beneath her fingertips causing reconsideration. Her eyes water from the pain flooding her face as she ignores the blood oozing down her cheek.
"Silence, ningen (human) trash. You don't know what you're talking about. Once Ryu has consumed Tsukiyomi and taken me as bride, I will see to it that every breath until your last is filled with excruciating torment and horror. You will wish you could bite off your own tongue for an early death but even that won't cease your suffering," her condemning words bleed with such abhorring that Umeko cringes repeatedly.
Mizuki storms out, slamming the door shut behind her.
